Scopable MCP: Connect an Assistant to Your Workspace

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, or Cursor to Scopable with read and write access, or read only, and disconnect when you're done.

Scopable Team3 min read

Prerequisites

  • A Scopable account with API access enabled
  • Permission to add a custom connector or MCP server in your assistant

The Scopable MCP server is in beta. It lets Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, or Cursor look up and work with your Scopable records as you, with your permissions. API access is enabled per workspace on request, so ask Scopable to turn it on first.

Every client uses the same server URL:

https://mcp.scopable.io/mcp

You sign in on the Scopable page that opens. Don't paste an API key or your Scopable password into the assistant.

Set up

Claude

On Pro or Max:

  1. Open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Scopable and paste the server URL.
  4. Choose OAuth, set OAuth client to Register automatically, and leave request headers empty.
  5. Choose Sign in now, sign in to Scopable, choose an access level, and select Approve connection.

On Team or Enterprise, an owner adds the connector under Organization settings, then Connectors, then Add, then Custom, then Web. Each member then chooses Connect and approves their own access.

Menu names change. Claude's custom connector guide has the current ones.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Plugins.
  2. Choose the plus control, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Name it Scopable and paste the server URL, including /mcp.
  4. Choose OAuth, acknowledge the warning, and create it as a plugin.
  5. Install the connector, sign in to Scopable, choose an access level, and select Approve connection.
  6. In a chat, mention the connector with @.

Business and Enterprise admins can limit who adds a server. If the control is missing, see OpenAI's custom MCP server article.

Claude Code

Run this in a terminal, outside a Claude Code session:

claude mcp add --transport http scopable https://mcp.scopable.io/mcp

Then run claude mcp list. Claude Code opens the Scopable sign-in page.

Cursor

Add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or to .cursor/mcp.json for one project:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "scopable": {
      "url": "https://mcp.scopable.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Restart Cursor if the server doesn't appear, then sign in when Cursor asks.

Once connected, ask the assistant to use Scopable to list a few clients, and check one record against the app.

Change permissions

You choose the access level on the Scopable page when you approve the connection:

AccessWhat the assistant can do
Read and writeLook things up and make changes. Your assistant asks you before each change. This is the default.
Read onlyLook things up. It can't create, edit, or delete anything.

Whichever you pick, the assistant can only do what your Scopable role allows.

You can't change the access level on an existing connection. To change it, disconnect the app in Scopable (below), then connect again from your assistant and pick the new level.

Disconnect or revoke access

In Scopable:

  1. Open your user menu and choose My Profile.
  2. Select the MCP tab.
  3. Under Connected apps, find the assistant. Each row shows its access level.
  4. Choose Disconnect, then Disconnect app.

Scopable refuses that app's next request. To use it again, connect and approve it again.

Removing the connector in Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, or Cursor stops that client from calling Scopable, but it doesn't revoke access in Scopable. Do both if you're done with it.

Data a tool already returned stays in that conversation and falls under the assistant's own terms. Scopable's side is covered by the Privacy Policy.
