Duplicate Quotes and Reuse Prior Quote Details

Create a new draft from an existing quote, understand what is copied or reset, and safely reuse quote details for the same client.

Scopable Team3 min read

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Quotes list and the source quote

Duplicating a quote creates a new draft from work you have already completed. Use it for a revised proposal, a recurring project, or another quote for the same client that needs similar products and scope.

The duplicate is a separate quote. Changes to it do not change the source quote.

Duplicate one quote

  1. Open Quotes.
  2. Select the quote you want to reuse.
  3. Select Duplicate.
  4. Wait for Scopable to create the draft.

When you duplicate one quote, Scopable opens the new draft in Quote Wizard so you can review it immediately.

Duplicate several quotes

Select several rows in the Quotes list, then select Duplicate. Scopable creates a separate draft for each selected quote and refreshes the list when the operation finishes.

Review each new draft before sending it. Bulk duplication copies reusable quote details, but it does not confirm that the dates, scope, products, or pricing are still appropriate.

What is copied

The new draft keeps the reusable parts of the source quote, including:

  • Line items, quantities, pricing, and product details.
  • The current scope of work.
  • The selected Quote Designer template and quote-specific layout choices.
  • Attached configurations that belong to the same client.

The duplicate starts in Draft status.

What is reset

Scopable resets details that should not carry into a new sales process:

  • Opportunity, contact, and site selections.
  • Public quote link and access token.
  • Sent, signed, won, and lost dates or status history.
  • Signatures and acceptance records.
  • Generated delivery snapshots and order references.

This prevents the new draft from inheriting a prior recipient, signature, public link, or sales outcome.

Review the new draft

Before sending a duplicated quote:

  1. Confirm the client and quote title.
  2. Choose the correct opportunity, contact, and site.
  3. Review every product, quantity, cost, price, and billing term.
  4. Confirm that attached configurations still apply.
  5. Update the scope of work and expiration date.
  6. Preview the client-facing quote and PDF.
  7. Complete any required approval workflow.

Reuse a quote for another client with Co-Work

The Quotes list duplicates quotes for the same client. Co-Work can help copy reusable content to another client after you explicitly confirm the destination.

Cross-client reuse does not copy attached configurations because those records belong to the original client. Always review client names, contacts, sites, scope, pricing, and client-specific language before sending the new quote.

Troubleshooting

The Duplicate action is unavailable

Confirm that you selected at least one quote and that your role can create quotes. If the source quote is unavailable to you, ask an administrator to review your access.

A contact or opportunity was not copied

This is expected. Recipient and sales-process details are reset so the new draft cannot be sent to the wrong person or tied to the wrong opportunity.

A configuration was not copied

Only configurations attached to the source quote and owned by the same client are eligible to carry over. Cross-client copies intentionally remove configuration links.

The new quote has the wrong pricing or scope

Duplication reuses the current source values. It does not update them against a catalog, contract, or current project requirements. Edit the draft and complete a full review before approval or sending.
