Use Skills in Co-Work
Understand how Co-Work uses focused instructions, manage the skills available to your account, and distinguish guidance from connected actions.
Prerequisites
- Access to Co-Work in Scopable
Skills give Co-Work focused instructions for a type of task. They help it follow the right process, terminology, and quality checks without placing every instruction into every conversation.
A skill is guidance. It is different from an action or connected tool. A skill can tell Co-Work how to approach a task, but it does not grant access to a provider or permission to change a record.
How Co-Work uses skills
Co-Work starts with a compact list of skills available to the conversation. When a task matches a skill, Co-Work can load the full instructions and use them for that work.
Loading instructions only when needed keeps unrelated guidance out of the conversation. A skill used in one conversation does not automatically carry into another conversation.
Ask Co-Work to use a skill
Describe the outcome you need and include the skill name when you know it. For example:
Use the quote review skill to check this draft.Use the client research skill to summarize the available context.Which skills can help with this task?
Co-Work can also identify an applicable skill from the request. Naming it directly is useful when more than one process could apply.
Review available skills
Select Manage Skills at the bottom of the Co-Work sidebar to open the skills available to your account. The page shows the customer-facing skills your account can use and the information Scopable provides for each one.
The ability to create or change a skill depends on your account, role, and the skill's ownership. Scopable-managed global skills are curated centrally and are not editable from a customer account.
Skills do not grant provider access
A skill does not connect an integration, reveal credentials, or bypass permissions. If a task needs data or an action from a connected system, all of the following must still be true:
- The integration is connected and healthy.
- The relevant client mapping exists.
- The signed-in user has the required Scopable permission.
- The action itself is available and any required confirmation is complete.
If those conditions are not met, the skill cannot make the unavailable operation succeed.
Keep skill use scoped to the task
Start a separate conversation when you move to a different client or outcome. This keeps the loaded guidance and working context easier to review.
When the result affects a quote, client record, or connected system, verify the source data and proposed change before approving it. Skills improve the process, but they do not replace the user's review.
Troubleshooting
I do not see Manage Skills
Your account may not have access to the skills experience, or your role may not include the required access. Ask an administrator to confirm availability.
Co-Work did not use the skill I expected
Name the skill and the outcome in the same request. If the skill is not listed on Manage Skills, it is not available to that account or conversation.
A skill cannot access connected data
Check the integration connection, client mapping, latest sync, and your user permissions. A skill provides guidance but does not create provider access.
Instructions from one chat are missing in another
Skills and conversation context do not automatically carry between chats. Ask Co-Work to use the skill again in the new conversation.
