IT Glue Integration Setup Guide
Connect IT Glue to Scopable to pull your organizations and configurations in and link them to the records you already have. Read-only, and it never creates duplicates.
Prerequisites
- An IT Glue account that can generate an API key
- Knowledge of your IT Glue region (US, EU, or AU)
- A Scopable account with admin permissions
- The IT Glue integration enabled for your Scopable account
IT Glue connects to Scopable as a documentation and enrichment source, not a system of record. That means it links your IT Glue organizations and configurations to records you already have in Scopable. It never creates new clients or configurations, and it never writes anything back to IT Glue. Setup is a single API key plus your region.
IT Glue runs alongside your PSA, whether that's ConnectWise or another tool, with no conflict.
What connecting IT Glue does
Once connected, Scopable:
- Pulls your IT Glue organizations and links them to your existing Scopable clients.
- Pulls your IT Glue configurations and links them to your existing Scopable configurations.
- Matches conservatively: anything it can't confidently place is left unlinked and surfaced as a short list for you to link by hand.
It's read-only (Scopable only reads from IT Glue) and it links, never creates, so connecting can't duplicate or overwrite your data.
Today the integration syncs organizations and configurations. It does not sync passwords or flexible assets, and contact syncing is a planned future addition.
Step 1: Generate an API key in IT Glue
- In IT Glue, go to Account → Settings → API Keys.
- Generate a new key.
- Copy the key immediately. It's shown only once. Store it somewhere safe.
You do not need to enable password access on the key. Scopable only reads organizations and configurations, so a standard (non-password) key works fine.
Know your region
Your IT Glue region determines which API host Scopable connects to. You'll pick it in Scopable:
| Region | API host |
|---|---|
| United States | api.itglue.com |
| Europe | api.eu.itglue.com |
| Australia | api.au.itglue.com |
Step 2: Open the IT Glue integration in Scopable
- Log in to Scopable as an Admin.
- Click Integrations in the left-side navigation under Administration.
- Open the IT Glue tab.
Don't see an IT Glue tab? This integration is in gradual rollout. If you see "The IT Glue integration is not available for your account" or the tab is missing, it isn't enabled for your account yet. Contact your administrator or Scopable for access.
Step 3: Connect and test
On the Connect IT Glue card:
- Region: choose United States, Europe, or Australia to match your IT Glue account.
- API key: paste the key from Step 1 (stored encrypted in Scopable's secure vault).
Click Test connection. On success you'll see a Verified badge and confirmation that the key works. Then click Connect (this button stays disabled until the test passes).
Step 4: Sync and resolve matches
Once connected, the dashboard gives you Sync organizations and Sync configurations buttons. Each card shows the last sync time and counts of how many records were linked, skipped, or errored.
- Run Sync organizations first. Configurations only link once their parent organization is matched to exactly one client.
- Check the "Organizations we couldn't place" section. Anything ambiguous (for example, two of your clients normalize to the same name) is deliberately left unlinked rather than guessed.
- To resolve an unmatched organization, align the names (rename the Scopable client or the IT Glue organization so they line up), then sync again.
Troubleshooting
"That key didn't work"
The API key is wrong or the region doesn't match. Re-copy the key (watch for trailing spaces) and confirm you selected the region that matches your IT Glue account.
It worked before and now fails
IT Glue automatically revokes API keys after 90 days of inactivity. If a previously working key stopped, it may have been idle-revoked. Generate a fresh key in IT Glue and reconnect.
Wrong region selected
Each region has a different API host. A key from a US account won't validate against the EU or AU host. Pick the region matching your IT Glue instance.
Organizations show under "couldn't place"
IT Glue only links to clients that already exist in Scopable, matched by company name. No match means it's left for manual linking; an "matches multiple clients" badge means two clients share a normalized name. Rename one so the names are distinct, then sync again.
Configurations aren't linking
A configuration only links after its IT Glue organization is matched to exactly one client. Sync and resolve organizations first, then sync configurations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does IT Glue replace my PSA?
No. IT Glue runs alongside your PSA as a documentation and enrichment source; it's intentionally not a system of record.
Will connecting IT Glue create new clients in Scopable?
No. It only links IT Glue organizations to clients that already exist. Unmatched organizations are never inserted as new clients.
What data syncs?
Organizations (linked to clients) and configurations (linked to existing configurations). Passwords and flexible assets are not synced; contact syncing is planned for the future.
Does Scopable write anything back to IT Glue?
No. The integration is read-only.
Is my API key safe?
Yes. It's stored encrypted in Scopable's secure vault and never shown in the interface after you enter it. Reconnecting replaces the old key.
Why is one of my organizations marked "matches multiple clients"?
Two of your Scopable clients normalize to the same name, so Scopable won't guess which one to use. Make the names distinct and re-sync.
