Pax8 Integration Setup Guide

Connect your Pax8 account to Scopable to search the Pax8 catalog, pull live pricing, manage subscriptions, submit orders from quotes, and reconcile billing.

Scopable Team5 min read

Prerequisites

  • An active Pax8 partner account
  • Pax8 Partner Admin or Primary Partner Admin role (to access the Integrations Hub)
  • A Scopable account with admin permissions
  • The Pax8 integration enabled for your Scopable account

You do not need to write any code. You're just creating a Client ID and Client Secret in Pax8 that let Scopable pull your catalog, pricing, subscription, and billing data on your behalf.

If you're deciding where Pax8 fits alongside your other distributors, the Pax8 vs Ingram Micro comparison is a good companion read. This setup also pairs naturally with the Ingram Micro setup guide if you source from both.

What connecting Pax8 does

Once connected, Scopable can:

  • Search the Pax8 catalog and pull live pricing directly inside the Quote Wizard, including company-specific rates.
  • Link a Scopable client to a Pax8 company so pricing and billing are company-specific.
  • Manage subscriptions: view and modify Pax8 subscriptions (immediate updates and future-dated cancellations).
  • Submit orders to Pax8 from a quote.
  • Reconcile billing: pull invoices, invoice items, draft items, and usage data.

Pax8 and Ingram Micro run as independent integrations, so an issue with one doesn't affect the other.

Step 1: Create API credentials in Pax8

Scopable connects using a Client ID and Client Secret (an OAuth client-credentials pair). You generate these in the Pax8 portal.

  1. Sign in to Pax8 as a Partner Admin or Primary Partner Admin: these are the roles with access to the Integrations Hub.
  2. Go to the Pax8 Integrations Hub at app.pax8.com/integrations/credentials.
  3. Create a new set of API credentials.
  4. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret. Store the secret somewhere safe, and treat it like a password.

Only Partner Admin and Primary Partner Admin roles can create API credentials in Pax8. If you don't see the Integrations Hub, check your Pax8 role.

Step 2: Open the Pax8 integration in Scopable

  1. Log in to Scopable as an Admin.
  2. Click Integrations in the left-side navigation under Administration.
  3. Open the Pax8 tab.

Don't see Pax8, or a message that it's switched off? The Pax8 integration can be toggled per account. If the page reads "The Pax8 integration is switched off for your account right now," contact Scopable to enable it.

Step 3: Enter credentials and test the connection

On the Pax8 setup card, fill in:

  • Client ID: the Client ID from Step 1.
  • Client Secret: the Client Secret from Step 1 (stored encrypted in Scopable's secure vault; it's never shown again after you save it).
  • Environment: a toggle between Sandbox (safe for testing, connects to test data) and Production (your live Pax8 account). It defaults to Sandbox: switch it to Production to connect your real account.

Then click Save & Test Connection. Scopable saves your credentials and immediately verifies them against Pax8. On success you'll see a green Connected badge. After connecting, you can re-run Test Connection, Reconfigure your credentials, or Disconnect at any time.

Troubleshooting

"Pax8 rejected the saved OAuth credentials"

Your Client ID or Client Secret is wrong. Click Reconfigure, then re-paste the full Client ID and Client Secret from the Pax8 Integrations Hub (watch for trailing spaces or line breaks), and test again.

"Pax8 rejected the product API probe"

Your credentials authenticated, but the account or credentials lack product-API access. Confirm in Pax8 that the credentials have catalog/product API access, then test again.

"Pax8 API was unavailable while testing"

This is a temporary Pax8-side outage or timeout. Wait a minute and click Test Connection again.

"Pax8 credentials are not set up yet"

You're trying to use a Pax8 feature before saving credentials. Complete the Client ID / Client Secret setup in Step 3 first.

"You don't have permission to connect Pax8"

The signed-in user lacks the permission to manage integrations. Have a Scopable admin perform the setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What data does Scopable pull from Pax8?

Product catalog and live pricing (including company-specific rates), subscriptions (view and modify), order submission from quotes, and billing reconciliation (invoices, invoice items, draft items, and usage). Full invoice sync is not part of the integration.

Do I need OAuth, an API key, or client credentials?

A Client ID and Client Secret, generated in the Pax8 Integrations Hub. Scopable handles the token exchange and renewal for you automatically.

Should I pick Sandbox or Production?

Choose Production to connect your live Pax8 account. Sandbox connects only to test data. The toggle defaults to Sandbox, so remember to switch it.

Are my credentials safe?

Yes. The Client Secret is encrypted in Scopable's secure vault and never displayed again after you save it. Only the Client ID (an identifier) is stored in readable form.

What happens when I disconnect?

Disconnecting removes the stored credentials and cached tokens for your account. Your existing client–company links and historical data are kept and reused if you reconnect.

Can multiple teammates use it once connected?

Yes. The Pax8 connection is tied to your Scopable account, not to an individual user. You set up the credentials once, and anyone with the right permissions can use Pax8-powered features.

Why don't I see a Pax8 option in Integrations?

The Pax8 integration can be switched off per account. If it's off, the page tells you so. Contact Scopable to turn it on.
